Rob grew up in West Chester and graduated from Lakota High School (when there was just one). He went on to earn a bachelor degree in Fine Arts from the Ohio State University. Since then he has continued to work as an artist in various mediums and worked as a graphic designer for a local publishing company for 8 years.

 

His current series, 1000-Prints, came about after years of looking for an effective way to show others the rich visual language that exists all around. With a digital camera, Rob works outdoors using natural light. He shoots whatever catches his eye as he goes about his daily life. Most of the photographs have been taken around the Cincinnati area. No cropping is done and no digital effects are applied. This is a straight forward way of working. A macro lens is used exclusively so he can show extreme detail and be very selective on how much of a subject he shows in each frame. This helps to abstract the subject and makes it easier for the viewer to look at the work with fresh eyes. After shooting dozens of pictures of a subject, Rob goes through them one at a time, makes his selection, and arranges them in a large Photoshop file. Rob has recently created prints for Skyline Chili, E-Beam Services, ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the City of Peoria, AZ, and Medpace.

My art is a reflection of my personal loves; music, fashion and nature.  I work in mixed media including photography, acrylics, computer imaging, stationary design and interiors.  I create what I like to call “Wearable Art”, original paintings on denim jean jackets.  I am heavily influenced by music so the bulk of my subject matter is the classic rock icons, such as The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
