Judi Parks is an exhibiting artist, award-winning freelance
photojournalist and recipient of the coveted Communication Arts
Photo Annual Award of Excellence for "unpublished black and white
series" for her 10 yr book project "Home Sweet Home: Caring for
America's Elderly". Both this project and "City Shadow: Mythic
Journey of the Hero" were invited to "Visa Pour L'Image" international
photojournalism festival in Perpignan, France. Her work is included
in major museums, public and private collections internationally,
and was exhibited in two cities for Mexico's renown "fotoseptiembre".
Judi returned to Cincinnati 7 years ago to care for her 92 year old mother after
living in the San Francisco/Bay Area for 28 years. Since her mother's
death, she has begun this new fine art series called "Artifact & Absence" taken
with a Diana camera, a plastic range finder camera made in the 1960's.
Locally, Cincinnati's Contemporary Arts Center awarded 1st Place and Runner
Up to two images from the "City Shadow: Mythic Journey of the Hero" series. These
editioned photographs are available for purchase through her studio at the Pendleton,
along with the coffee table book "Cincinnati: Majestic Vision" and 18 other coffee
table books documenting life in many North American cities.
