The building housing the artists of the Pendleton Art Center in Rising Sun, Indiana was erected in the late 19th century as Gibson Hardware Store, then becoming a small parts and engine repair store during the mid-20th century. In 2000 the city of Rising Sun sold the building to the Pendleton Art Center of Cincinnati as part of the city's "Art as Economic Development" plan. Today, the building has been completely renovated into art studios and art gallery.

First Friday studio walks are the first Friday of each month from 5 to 9pm. Studios at the Pendleton Art Center Rising Sun open at that time to the public allowing guests the opportunity to view creative art space and purchase one-of-a-kind artwork directly from the artist. Second Look Saturdays offer another opportunity to experience the Pendleton and its artists from 10am to 5pm.
